Good Afternoon Western Families,

So under the heading of ‘It's never dull at WMS’, in an abundance of caution, we evacuated the building today after reports of a gas smell emanating from one of the classrooms. Turns out they were doing a lesson in science class. The fire department and gas company came and deemed the building safe after about 10 minutes…all good, and that counts as our fire drill for June!

Friday was a banner day for WMS, both literally and figuratively. We took home the middle school sports banner for track (4th year in a row) and softball (first time ever!). In addition, Our Orchestra received the only orchestra ‘superior’ rating at their competition in Bristol and our Virtual Reality team took second place in their augmented reality competition…a competition that included high schoolers! So, we shine academically, athletically and musically…Westside Bestside! Some pictures are below from the day’s events!

We are in the home stretch. There is a lot going on over the next 2 and a half weeks!

Our annual student-teacher volleyball game will take place this afternoon, Tuesday June 7th in the WMS gym from 3-4pm. Entry is $1 per person and all proceeds will go to support our 2022 Sudell Sprint fundraising efforts. We are looking forward to another great competition between our teachers and student athletes!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to WMS! If you are interested in volunteering to help please sign up here. The fair will run from Monday, June 13th to Friday, June 17th in the auditorium. Please see the digital flyer for a sneak peak at what the fair has to offer! If you want to allow your child to make purchases, but don't want to send them in with cash, you can fund an eWallet electronically using this link. Accepted forms of payment are cash, credit card, check (payable to the school), & the eWallet. Students will have the opportunity to shop the fair from 7:40 am- 8:00 am every day, and they will also have a chance to attend the fair in one of their classes during the week. Thursday, the book fair will be open after school until 4:00 pm and students and parents are welcome to visit the fair at that time. Orders can be placed based off of your child’s proofcard that was distributed in the fall or you can email them directly for the code. This will be the last opportunity to do so as they do not archive these photos.

Buenas Tardes Familias de Western,

Entonces, bajo el título "Nunca es aburrido en WMS", con mucha precaución, evacuamos el edificio hoy después de informes de un olor a gas que emanaba de una de las aulas. Resulta que estaban haciendo una lección en la clase de ciencias. El departamento de bomberos y la compañía de gas llegaron y consideraron que el edificio estaba seguro después de unos 10 minutos... todo bien, y eso cuenta como nuestro simulacro de incendio para junio.

El viernes fue un gran día para WMS, tanto en sentido literal como figurado. Nos llevamos a casa la pancarta deportiva de la escuela intermedia para atletismo (4to año consecutivo) y softbol (¡primera vez en la historia!). Además, nuestro equipo de Orchestra recibió la única calificación de orquesta 'superior' en su competencia en Bristol y nuestro equipo de realidad virtual obtuvo el segundo lugar en su competencia de realidad aumentada... ¡una competencia que incluyó a estudiantes de secundaria! Entonces, brillamos académica, atlética y musicalmente... ¡Westside Bestside! ¡Algunas fotos están abajo de los eventos del día!

Estamos en la recta final. ¡Pasarán muchas cosas durante las próximas 2 semanas y media!

Nuestro juego anual de voleibol entre estudiantes y maestros se llevará a cabo esta tarde, martes 7 de junio, en el gimnasio de WMS de 3 a 4 p.m. La entrada cuesta $1 por persona y todas las ganancias se destinarán a apoyar nuestros esfuerzos de recaudación de fondos de Sudell Sprint 2022. ¡Esperamos otra gran competencia entre nuestros maestros y estudiantes atletas!

¡La Feria del Libro Scholastic está llegando a WMS! Si está interesado en ser voluntario para ayudar, regístrese aquí. La feria se desarrollará desde el lunes 13 de junio hasta el viernes 17 de junio en el auditorio.Vea el volante digital para ver un adelanto de lo que la feria tiene para ofrecer! Si desea permitir que su hijo/a realice compras, pero no desea enviarlas con efectivo, puede financiar una billetera electrónica electrónicamente usando este enlace. Las formas de pago aceptadas son efectivo, tarjeta de crédito, cheque (a nombre de la escuela) y eWallet. Los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de comprar en la feria de 7:40 am a 8:00 am todos los días y también tendrán la oportunidad de asistir a la feria en una de sus clases durante la semana. El jueves, la feria del libro estará abierta después de la escuela hasta las 4:00 pm y los estudiantes y padres pueden visitar la feria en ese momento. ¡Esta es una gran oportunidad para abastecerse de libros para leer en el verano! Solo un recordatorio amistoso de que tiene hasta el final del año escolar para hacer un pedido de las fotos escolares de su hijo/a. Los pedidos se pueden realizar en función de la tarjeta de prueba de su hijo/a que se distribuyó en otoño o puede enviarles un correo electrónico directamente para obtener el código. Esta será la última oportunidad de hacerlo ya que no archivan estas fotos.
